Installing Oracle Cluster Health Monitor(IPD/OS) on System drive

It’s quite common to have just one big local disk drive when installing Oracle RAC on Microsoft Windows platform.

If You’ll try to install Oracle Cluster Health Monitor(IPD/OS, NOTE:811151.1) in this case, then with high probability You will choose drive C:  for storing collecting data and You’ll face with the next problem while running crfinst.pl script:

ERROR: Invalid BDB location. Please dont put bdb directory on system drive

It was done to cope with situation when collecting data will fill all available space on system drive, which may be cause of  system instability.

But if You don’t have another choice and have to use system drive for storing data, then You may make some changes in crfinst.pl script to bypass this issue.

Find line 184 and check that it contains following text:

  if ($bdbloc =~ /^$sysdrv/i)

Than find line 188 and comment it. It should look like:

#    exit 1;

Now You may install this tool using crfinst.pl scipt.

Remember to monitor system drive free space to escape problems related with not enough free space on system drive.

Have a nice RACcing!
